clear your cache and cookies

Written by Vetle

so your round won't finish, or you're seeing some weird error message. nine times out of ten, it's not us, it's your browser.

your browser saves a bunch of old junk (called cache and cookies) to try and speed things up. when that junk gets old, it can cause problems. the fix is usually super simple: clear it all out.

here’s how to do it.

on your computer (pc & mac)

the quickest way: just hit ctrl + shift + delete on a windows pc, or command + shift + delete on a mac. this shortcut jumps you straight to the right menu in most browsers.

if that doesn't work, here's the step-by-step.

google chrome
hit the three dots (⋮), then go to privacy and security and find clear browsing data. set the time range to all time, check the boxes for cookies and cached images, then hit clear data.

safari (on a mac)
in the top menu bar, click safari, then clear history.... in the little dropdown, choose all history and click the button. this clears everything, including your cache.

microsoft edge
click the three dots (⋯), then go to privacy, search, and services. find the "clear browsing data" section and click choose what to clear. set it to all time, check the boxes for cookies and cache, and click clear now.

firefox
click the three lines (≡), go to privacy & security, and scroll down to cookies and site data. click the clear data... button, make sure both boxes are checked, and then hit clear.

on your phone or tablet

it's the same deal on mobile, just different buttons.

iphone (safari)
this is an iphone thing, not a browser thing. open your main settings app. scroll down and find safari, tap it. then, just tap clear history and website data and confirm it.

android (chrome)
open the chrome app and tap the three dots (⋮). go to settings > privacy and security > clear browsing data. set the time range to all time, check the boxes for cookies and cache, and tap clear data.

samsung internet
if you're using the samsung browser, first of all - the fk happened. i want to know. but tap the three lines at the bottom. go to settings > personal browsing data > delete browsing data. pick what you want to delete (definitely cookies and cache), and tap the button.

if its unclear still, this link is useful.
